De beroemde Frits Lugt Collectie, die zich in het Institut Néerlandais te Parijs bevindt, bezit het bijna complete grafisch oeuvre van Rembrandt. Deze uitzonderlijke verzameling etsen, grotendeels bijeen vergaard tussen 1920 en 1935 door de Rembrandt-kenner Frits Lugt, kenmerkt zich door vroege staten en bijzondere drukken. Erik Hinterding is de auteur van deze Engelstalige bestandscatalogus. Dankzij zijn jarenlange onderzoek naar de watermerken, koperplaten en het papier heeft de productie en distributie van Rembrandts prenten een grote bekendheid gekregen. Nauwkeurige beschrijving van de prenten en bevindingen bieden een nieuwe stimulans voor elk verder onderzoek. De catalogus bestaat uit een tekst- en een platendeel. Achter in het platendeel bevinden zich röntgen-opnames van een honderdtal watermerken.   Voor deze Engelstalige catalogus zijn alle etsen direct van de originelen gelithografeerd en allemaal in kleur gedrukt. This unique collection of etchings, assembled largely between 1920 and 1935 by the Rembrandt authority Frits Lugt, is characterised by early states and exceptional impressions. Every item has been chosen with a profound feeling for its pictorial quality. Research into the provenance shows that most of the prints come from famed collections. Erik Hinterding is the author of this catalogue covering the entire collection. Thanks to his years of research into the watermarks, copper plates and paper, a great deal has been learned about the production and distribution of Rembrandt’s prints. Precise descriptions of the prints and his discoveries provide a new stimulus for further research. The catalogue consists of a text and plate volume. The colour reproductions of the etchings in the volume are, with only a few exceptions, prepared directly from the originals.
